The Tower Bridge is a Grade I listed combined bascule and suspension bridge that crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and is one of five London bridges owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, The bridge is 800 feet (240 m) in length and consists of two 213-foot (65 m) bridge towers connected at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, and a central pair of bascules that can open to allow shipping to pass. [1]
Coverage[]
The Tower Bridge makes its cameo in the documentary and in season one episode Heavy Metal (and Outbreak outro.). Its appearance are complicated, with the Tower Bridge first seen in 200 years after people in the documentary while it appears as part of the transition on Heavy Metal and Outbreak.
By visually, the show only features the collapse of the walkway. Possibly damage by wind and corrosion, years of hanging in the air have caused one of the walkways to snap and collapse. The collapse of the walkway have also cause the pointy corners at the top of the tower to join in, causing multiple pieces to fall. The walkway then crashes into the deck, damaging parts of it. Due to the collapse in an unusual way and unlike other structures, it is presume that the Tower Bridge might collapse by piece by piece.
Trivia[]
- Unlike most other structures in the documentary, the Tower Bridge was never explained but was shown to collapse.
- An unused official concept (possibly 50 years [2]) would be shown by Sublimal Artist Productions. [3] It roughly lines up with the 200 years perspective.
