Steven S. Ross is an American writer known for being a self-author of a book titled Construction Disasters and a regular guest in Life After People.
Career[]
Before his career began, he holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master's degree in Journalism from Columbia.[1]
His career possibly began in January of 1980 as a technology writer when he along with John Kolb authored a book called Product Safety and Liability: A Desk Reference and published by McGraw-Hill.[2] On 1 January, 1984, Ross authored Construction Disasters: Design Failures, Causes and Prevention and published by McGraw-Hill.[3] In 1988, he authored Highway Design Reference Guide, along with Kenneth Brady Woods and published by McGraw-Hill,[4] and Spreadstat: How to Build Statistics Into Your Lotus 1-2-3 Spreadsheets, published by McGraw-Hill Osborne Media.[5] He also seems to authored Spreadstat/Book and Disk and a paperback called Data Exchange in the Pc/MS DOS: Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Databases (Computing That Works), both published by McGraw-Hill.[6][7] He also authored and edited other 19 books and has won numerous technical, professional, and journalism awards and also taught statistics in academic and industrial settings while lectured and consulted in 84 countries.[1]
His other career include being former full-time professor at Columbia University and other both domestic and international expertise in architecture, land-use planning, business, and education. He also helped establish the New Jersey Environmental Education Fund in 1983.[1]
Career in the History Channel[]
His early career in the History Channel before Life After People might be considered lost.
His first appearance in Life After People began in The Bodies Left Behind in Season 1 with his profession labeled as "Author, Construction Disasters" and was considered a regular guest for the series as he appeared all episodes in the series with the exception of Outbreak and Holiday Hell.
In later episodes of Season 2, Steven S. Ross takes the role of "Technical Consultant" starting in Waves of Devastation until the season ended in Take Me to Your Leader.
Post-History Channel[]
Sometimes after Life After People: The Series ends, Ross later joined Broadband Communities where he later become the founding editor of Broadband Communities Magazine. He still works at Broadband Communities as "Editor-at-Large".[1]
