The Steel Pier is a 1,000 foot (300 m) amusement pier in Atlantic City. The pier is owned by the Catanoso Family and operates under the Steel Pier Associates. The Steel Pier continues to operate as an amusement pier and is one of the most successful family-oriented attractions in the city.[1]

Coverage[]

Steel Pier is featured in Sin City Meltdown.

It was introduced in 2 weeks after people when the ocean continues to pound against the Steel Pier ever since 1888. It was nearly as long as the Stratosphere Tower is tall and it once hosted entertainers from W.C. Fields to Frank Sinatra, and even hosted Miss American pageant. Rebuilt in 1993, the concrete supports of Steel Pier are in good shape.

Its fate is revealed in 50 years after people when Steel Pier is just a skeleton. It looks much the way the old Garden Pier did in the time of humans in the aftermath of the hurricane of 1944 making the buildings to be demolished and the pier's foundations never repaired. The Steel Pier is built of reinforced concrete, making the caissons strong, but not strong enough to withstand the constant assault of the ocean. John Feairheller stated that the piers extend into the ocean are already subject to the constant wearing away by the ocean. He explains that the water has sand in it as well as boards and other debris and the sand is sand blasting the structure and within 50 years the structure is gone. Parts of the Steel Pier collapse into the ocean, sinking the buildings on top.
