Columbidae is a bird family consisting of pigeons and doves. These are stout-bodied birds with short necks and short slender bills that in some species feature fleshy ceres. They primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and plants. In English, the smaller species tend to be called "doves" and the larger ones "pigeons". Historically, the common names for these birds involve a great deal of variation between the terms. The bird most commonly referred to as just "pigeon" is the domestic pigeon, which is common in many cities as the feral pigeon.[1]

Coverage[]

Pigeons were briefly featured in the documentary within 25 years after people.

While most of the familiar pigeon populations around the globe were brought to new places by humans, their species is more than hardy enough to survive without humanity's help. John Hadidian explained they are suitable to live in the wild and without people, they were able to adopt to live in the edifices of the gutted buildings, as a kind of artificial cliff face similar to real ones used by wild pigeons.
