Life After People Wiki

Park Avenue is an avenue in New York City. It was featured as a part of the transformation of New York City in Life After People Documentary, and also in Heavy Metal.

Coverage[]

Not much is known of Park Avenue other than the transformation, which is featured in two angles: the street view and the bird's view. The birds' view is largely unused save for a few episodes such as Wrath of God, Waters of Death, and some demos, where it rarely appeared fully; other times only one or two frames would be used at a time. The street view appeared fully in the documentary, and other parts would be used as a placeholder, as seen in the 5-year segment.

In the street view, the cars are left in the middle of the street. Then in the next transformation, the road and the buildings around it go green while the vehicles corrode. In the next transformation, the entire avenue is now covered in grass, while the buildings are stripped down to their foundations, with some surviving with only shapes. The final transformation reveals that the skyscrapers have turned into a mountain of rubble.

From the bird's view, the transformation is different. Park Avenue is somehow empty of vehicles (aside from a few leftover cars), and then in the second transformation, much of the skyline has been turned into ruin as each of the top floors of the skyscrapers collapses, while Park Avenue itself is covered by trees and debris. In the third transformation, most of the skyscrapers have become part of the mountains, and Park Avenue has turned into a valley as the avenue itself is now a river.
