The show introduce the Oriental Pearl Tower as the third tallest TV and radio tower in the world rising 1,535 feet into the sky along the Huangpu River. The show also shows the features of the tower, which housed a hotel, a shopping mall, and a revolving restaurant. It then shows the threat looming on the Oriental Pearl Tower that in the time of humans, the weight of the buildings made Shanghai to sink by more than half an inch a year in 2003 cause by the 3,000 high-rises built in Shanghai in less than 20 years. Without people, the water invasion from the Huangpu River may be the tower's greatest threat.

The fate of the Oriental Pearl Tower is reveal on 70 years after people from the waters of the Huangpu River which flooded the streets, the cause were the Shanghai skyline, which sunk 35 inches under its own weight. Although the three concrete and composite support columns are thrust more than 100 feet into the ground, the supports are weakening and rotting away. This cause the strains to become too great for the tower to handle, causing the Oriental Pearl Tower to collapse, with the columns lean one way, the spire another.
