Chichen Itza is a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people of the Terminal Classic period, and is one of the most iconic archaeological sites in Mexico. The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the Northern Maya lowlands. [1] The Temple of Kukulcán dominates the center of the Chichen Itza archaeological site and the pyramid building is more formally designated by archaeologists as Chichen Itza Structure 5B18.[2] In Life After People, Chichen Itza appeared in the series as a cameo in Waters of Death credits.[3]

Coverage[]

Chichen Itza, specifically the Temple of Kukulcán, only appears as a cameo in Waters of Death at the credits.

Chichen Itza Credits

Chichen Itza as it appeared in the credits.

Chichen Itza is shown returning to the state it was in before it was rediscovered in the 19th century, as the surrounding jungle has once again moved in to reclaim and preserve the stone structures of the ancient city. The Temple of Kukulcán still dominates the site, but nature is turning the once famous stone pyramid to its former past, as a green lush hill.
